It was the worst curry the pair of us have ever eaten. The breads were cold and crispy as though they had been made some time earlier. My wife’s paneer had the exact same sauce but with paneer and warmed frozen peas. The main meals followed shortly aftrerwards and the waiter brought a dip out for the samosas which we had already eaten!! My chicken curry had a few pieces of chicken in swimming in what I would describe as condensed tomato soup with no flavours at all. We shared them and awaited our main meal. The 3 small, cold tasteless lamb samosas came a cost of £5.90. We stood in the bar area and awaited a table. On arrival we were told there was an approximate wait of 30 minutes. Firstly, you can’t book unless there are 6 or more in your party. Our favorites were the prawn koliwada appetizer, the house black daal, and the mutton pepper fry. Here, you can order tasty Bombay cuisine off the large, newspaper-styled menu while enjoying a casual, Indian summer breeze kind of vibe.

The original Dishoom opened in Covent Garden in 2010, and it immediately changed Londoners’ expectations of what an Indian restaurant could and should be. Because Dishoom is more than just a restaurant - it’s a phenomenon. My wife and I visited Dishoom at 5.30pm on a Wednesday evening. Dishoom is a very popular Indian restaurant with a couple locations around central London. 26 London restaurants with excellent halal options. The only downside is that this branch is quite difficult to find in Granary Square (nicely redeveloped) and about 10-15 minutes walk from Kings X / St. recommending that we take a raita with the chicken & cranberry biriyani as their version is drier. Our waiter was sincere, efficient and highly informative e.g. Their own brand IPA beer complemented the flavours beautifully. This Indian restaurant is famous for their naan. Maybe more so than usual as the next day was Indian Independence.Being originally British Indian and residing in NW London we have a discerning palate but all dishes ordered were perfect in terms of quantity, taste and spice - can highly recommend the Pau Bhaji which is the best I have come across and cinnamon ice cream / kulfi on a stick. Given the COVID-19 pandemic, call ahead to verify hours, and remember to practice social distancing. We booked for 4 (2 adults & 2 children) for 5pm on a Tuesday which I'm glad we did as the queues upon leaving were "snaked" the corner. My first visit to a Dishoom and it certainly won't be my last! According to the rest of my family who have frequented the Covent Garden location this was an even better experience and larger site too, complete with Bombay Irani cafe style decor.
